Simone K. Schleifer, manager of tourist apartments in Barcelona, was born 45 years ago in Freiburg, a city in the Black Forest of Germany. He has studied Information and Media Management in Stuttgart. His passion for traveling and discovering other cultures took him 17 years ago to Barcelona, where he worked for several years in an editorial as editorial coordinator and editor of books on architecture and interior design. For Simone it is a gift to be able to work in the areas that you enjoy most: travel and cultural exchanges and activities, together with the design of houses. In addition, enjoy surprising travelers with not-so-known corners that are not expected for everything that the surroundings of Barcelona have to offer.
Your company is dedicated to the management of holiday and seasonal rentals. It began as a personal project where Simone brought together many of the things that he is passionate about: dealing with people from all over the world and knowing their customs and cultures, creating and designing a cozy home where to receive people, gather and provide very personalized information about cultural, culinary and all kinds of events.
She started with her husband managing two penthouses on the 5th floor in the Sant Antoni neighborhood of Barcelona where they received friends and tourists from all over the world, offering them a different stay in Barcelona, from the perspective of a “local” (resident). 4 years ago he decided to transform this hobby into his daily work and create Cloud5 BCN (the name is inspired by the views on the clouds – cloud – that are from the terrace of the first two properties on the 5th floor, hence the number 5) .
What has been your specific experience that has led you to think about this possibility as a business?
We travel a lot and we love discovering new places, cities and countries with their particularities. When it happened that we agreed with an establishment where they provided us with local and typical information there, we always loved it. That inspired us to want to offer something like that, a different, personalized travel service where you take more than just a trip, a unique experience.

What do you consider most important in this type of business? Something must not be missing?
Apart from our principle of offering a personalized and flexible service to the needs of each party, the seriousness and professionalism should never be lacking.
What methods do you use to make the client feel confident that he or she is under risk of default?
We work only with platforms that provide non-payment insurance, which is why luckily it is not an issue that concerns us in our activity.
What is the procedure that you carry out since your contact with the client begins?
Each client is assigned a coordinator who is their contact person at any time. From there, we start the work together according to the needs and ideas of our clients and give our advice.
